The line numbers are completely off in non wrap mode as well as wrapping mode. I highlighted text to easily see the lines are spaced improperly. there is way too much space in between lines.

QA PASSED (PR #198, merged to dev as 734d656, deployed to palette-dev).

Evidence (headless chromium CDP probe, 1400x900, test paste wjrbec: 34 lines incl. 2 blank + one 200-char wrapping line):

  • Wrap ON: 34/34 line numbers aligned with their logical .codeline tops (max |delta| 0.6px); gutter rows match visual rows after settle; uniform line-height 36.72px, no extra vertical spacing.
  • Wrap OFF: 34 codelines each 36.7px tall, gutter '1'..'34', no phantom rows.
  • Blank lines occupy exactly one row (.codeline:empty::before).
  • CI docker run for merge commit 734d656 on dev: success. fix-194-r2 branch deleted.
